Di solito parliamo del popolo tibetano come se vivesse solo in Tibet. Ma i tibetani, a parte quelli fuori dal paese ai confini meridionali e sud-occidentali, vivono in Cina non solo nel Tibet, ma anche a Hsikang e in parti di Sze-chwan, Kan-su e Ching-hai. Il numero è chiamato Amdo in tibetano. Il più famoso maestro di Dge-lugs-pa, o la scuola riformata del Buddhismo tibetano, Tson-kha-pa nacque a Kokonor. Il monastero di Sku-hbum fu il luogo in cui nacque. Anche l'attuale Dalai Lama XIV e Pan-chan Lama X nacquero a Kokonor.

Written in an easy to read style, this history of Tibetan religion sets the stage and historical background for the development of Tibetan Buddhism. From Pre-Buddhistic faith and the early schools to the established school of Tibetan Buddhism, the training and curriculum, principal deities, monastic organization and public festivities are covered in detail.
Ordinarily we speak of the Tibetan people as if living only in Tibet. But the Tibetans, apart from those outside the country on the southern and southwestern borders, live in China not only in Tibet alone, but also in Hsikang, and parts of Sze-chwan, Kan-su and Ching-hai. Number is called Amdo in Tibetan. The most famous master of Dge-lugs-pa, or the Reformed School of Tibetan Buddhism, Tson-kha-pa was born in Kokonor. The Sku-hbum Monastery was the place where he was born. The present Dalai Lama XIV and Pan-chan Lama X were also born in Kokonor. |
